Get ready to evolve and devour all the lesser creatures that stand in your way like humans this is Maneater.

This game has been on our radar for a while now and it is developed by Tripwire Interactive (makers of Killing Floor 2 and Rising Storm 2:Vietnam) a studio with a decent a will liked catalog of games. Maneater is there newest putting you in the role of a shark in an open world and letting you eating anything you come across but there is a twist this game is also an RPG. You play as a newborn Shark and will need to kill, eat, and do those quest to level up and become a true maneater. There are a good 15 hours to be had with the game and there is a story but it really is not what the game is for. The story follows you and is told in this sort of reality tv show sort of way and as you level up and do more quest in the world you will see these actions from the point of view from the show. Most of the quest that the game offers can be repetitive and follow the formula of "kill this many of said enemy", "kill this many of said enemy at certain locations", "kill certain large predator". But there is an end goal and this is to get bigger and bigger and take down the shark hunter Scaly Pete which is the shark hunter that slaughtered your mother. Combat is fun but really simple there are some basic bite attacks along with a good ole tailwhip but there are some interesting moves like being able to bite on to an enemy and this smack this with your tail doing a sort of shark dropkick. The map of the game is not the biggest open-world game that has been seen but it is a good size and each of the regions of the game a varied and looks really well. There are some issues with the game on the Xbox Version I experienced some frame drops here and there but nothing too bad but the one really noticeable thing was how it can be a struggle to fight with the camera in more shallow waters. The RPG systems in the game are fun and interesting but nothing too deep there are upgrades you can unlock and some are really fun and out there like being able to use electricity

and have a sort of armored body so the tone and humor of the game really help out plus having Chris Parnell narrate the game was a good choice and he does an outstanding job.

All and all the game is fun and has its moments and there is a good bit of content here. This is not some big AAA game with a deep story or super deep systems but what is there is really a blast and the little bit of story and tone of the game give it a sort of charm that has been missing from most recent games so we recommend if you want to play as a man-eating shark than pick the game up and have fun killing anything you see.
