We saw a tech demo from Epic Games showing off their next-gen gaming engine. Wow, the entire demo was jaw-dropping, every moment was stunning and should really be getting you hyped for the new generation of coming that is soon approaching. Epic Games stated that they are putting photorealism at the forefront. Lighting has been overhauled being able to react dynamically with no lightmaps and it can cast dynamic shadows as well. The models are made up of loads and loads of triangles that allow for highly detailed models that look super real. They also talked about how they wanted the geometry and particles to be able to react and change with the environment. They went over how they also overhauled the animations and how the character model interacts with the world around them. In the demo, we say the player is scaling a wall and they say that the model is predicting the feet placement which allows for smoother animations or even how the character when walking past a wall puts their hand on it or when it a tight squeeze will drag their hand along the wall as well. Not only did we see a next-gen engine being showed off but we the "game" that was being shown off was running on PS5 hardware and this is some of the first footage of a game running on the PS5 which is something to be excited about and hopefully in what we can expect from next-gen games. In the end, Epic Games showed that the engine will be available sometime in 2021 and We at RNN Gaming cannot wait to see how this tech will impact the gaming world.
